Protecting Your Name & Your Reputation
If you or someone you know has been charged with a
sex crime, it is imperative that you retain the immediate representation of Hines
Ranc & Holub. After being convicted of any offense involving a sex
crime, you will be required to publically register as a sex offender.
This will have a serious and permanent effect on your life and will likely
limit your future opportunities.
Are you currently a registered sex offender looking to deregister and legally
remove your name from sex offender registry in Texas? If so, we can help!
Regardless of the specific circumstances surrounding your conviction, we
are fully equipped and qualified to fight to have your name removed from
the Texas sex offender registry. The process of deregistration is very
complex and should not be navigated without the supportive assistance
of a skilled defense attorney.
Steps to Deregister from the Sex Offender List
If you desire to deregister, we will review your case and inform you if
you meet the criteria required of applicants. If you are eligible, we
will walk you through the process of deregistration.
You can review the steps required in the process:
Determine Eligibility – The first step in the process is to ensure you are eligible. You must have
no more than one violation requiring registration and your offense must
have been one that the Texas Department of Public Safety has deemed eligible.
Submit Application – To begin, you must submit your application to the Council on Sex Offender
Treatment to be evaluated. This will also include the submission of your
case’s court documents, a background check, and documentation of
completion of sex offender treatment.
Deregistration Evaluation – Once your application has been reviewed and it is determined that you qualify,
you must be evaluated by a licensed sex offender deregistration specialist
to determine if your request will be granted.
Petition for Early Termination – Once the evaluation is complete and you are approved, you can petition
the court where your case was prosecuted to have your duty to register
as a sex offender terminated. Despite all other approval, the judge has
final discretion in their ruling.
The deregistration process can be a long and difficult one, which is why
our Austin sex crime lawyers are here to stand by your side every step
of the way. We can make sure your rights and interests are protected and
you are treated fairly throughout the process. Our goal is to secure the
best possible outcome.
