Jail Release/Warrants

Central Texas Arrest and Warrant Lawyers

The threat of spending time in jail — far from family, away from those who can effect change in your criminal defense case — can be frustrating, if not frightening. At the law offices of Hines, Ranc & Holub, in Austin, Texas, we understand that getting out of jail is not as easy as drawing a “Get out of jail free” card in Monopoly. If you have a warrant out for your arrest or are trying to get a loved one out of jail, securing the services of a capable, effective law firm can be the next best thing.

Obtaining Jail Release

  • If you are trying to get a loved one out of jail, it is best to first contact the Travis County jail at 512-854-9889 and provide the name and date of birth of your friend or family member. A representative will tell you where your loved one is being held, whether bail has been set, and how much it will be.
  • Contact Hines, Ranc & Holub. We can help you take steps to get your loved one out of jail.

Bail Bonds: Defining Differences

  • Lawyer-assisted bonds allow you to help get a loved one out of jail using legal funds which will later be applied to lawyer’s fees. This approach is much faster than the personal bond process, requires less money upfront and can result in a quicker release. It is, however, more expensive than a personal bond.
  • Cash bonds involve depositing the full bond amount via cashier’s check or money order. While the cost upfront is higher, you will eventually obtain a refund.
  • Personal bonds, if the arrested individual qualifies, require only a $20 payment to get out of jail. While this is the least expensive way to get out of jail, it can take up to 10 hours or more to complete the process. Having a lawyer to help can speed up the process.
  • Surety (bail) bonds are paid for by a bail bond company, which generally charges between 10 percent and 20 percent of the bond amount. There is less cost upfront, but the cost cannot be applied to lawyer’s fees.

Proactively Handling Warrants

If you have an outstanding warrant, given certain circumstances our attorneys may be able to walk you through the process and minimize time at jail. We can help you turn yourself in and arrange payment of the associated bail bond. This process may take anywhere between 10 minutes and two hours. By not working with an arrest and warrant attorney to help you through the walk-through process, you could be looking at spending several days in jail.
